Deeper nesting of tasks / faster selection of tasks
Hey,
First: awesome app! I guess I'll stick to this for some time :)
Some thoughts:
I really liked the Idea of nesting tasks but sadly discovered that
it is only possible for 3 levels. Will you increase this?
E.g. I'd need a nesting for this:
- Diploma Thesis
- Theoretical part
- Sience Stuff
- some other stuff
- Implementation
- Framework 1
- iPhone
- Menu
- Geolocation
- ....
- ....
- Android
- Framework 2
- iPhone
- Menu
- Geolocation
- ....
- ....
- Android
It would be cool to separate spare time and work, nest work in different things and then add task to them. Nesting is a thing which really stands out in your app so it would be a huge benefit to make it deeper I guess.
Since I've already nested as it is possible it is kind of akward
that when pressing the arrow keys in the menu you can also select
the aggregated "tasks" which can't be toggled and are just used to
show the sum of time spent in the subtasks. In my example above
this would be:
- Diploma Thesis - Theoretical part - Sience Stuff It makes no
sense that you can select them with arrow keys when you can't
toggle them.
Since I'm a heavy keyboard user I also recognised when filtering through the tasks after pressing enter a space is inserted in the filter field instead selecting the first task filtered out which one would expect I guess.
thanks and all the best,
Jakob

Hi Jakob,
thank you very much for your feedback!
I agree, deeper nesting of tasks would be nice. However, the app has been designed from the start to support three levels of tasks. It would be hard to add additional levels now.
I will probably add the possibility to expand the task list horizontally in the future, which would make more levels of tasks easier to handle. I'll think about adding more levels then.
The example of nested Tasks above should be possible to create (3 levels). But I know what you mean and I'll keep it in mind.
Regarding your second suggestion: Thanks for pointing this out to me! I'll fix it in the upcoming version.
Have a great day,
Niko

Ah lol I guess the forum also just support 3 nested lists :P
e.g. Menu or Gelocation should be nested under iPhone. e.g. the whole thing could be nested in University. To separate time in sparetime and work or something.
Thanks anyway for the fast reply :)
Unlimited nesting would set this app apart in my opinion :)
all the best,
Jakob

Ohh, I see:-) Yeah, I'm struggling with the formatting in this forum too sometimes.
I'l see what I can do about the nesting. There is lots of other stuff on my todo list that I want to implement first, so it has to wait for a while.
Cheers,
Niko

I just purchased this app about 20 minutes ago and have already realized that I should have read this discussion more carefully before doing so. I also want/need more than 3 nested levels of tasks! I hope this addition comes sooner rather than later.
Thanks -- Barbara

Hi Barbara!
It is not coming soon, as I have lots of features to implement that other users have asked for already soon after the launch of this app. I'm sorry for that.
I just checked. It does say in the app store that two levels of subtasks are supported;-)
Thanks,
Niko

Hi,
I've just started using this app, and am using the nesting for client > projects > tasks, and then any further detail goes in the notes. This means I can view time spent on a work project detailed by task, or time spent for a client, detailed by project, which is perfect for me!
So three levels is good, you just have to find a way of organising your tasks (projects, clients) that works for you!
Hope this helps.
Pablo.
