Export tasks / subtasks

Currently I can only export Timings, but I'd like to export Tasks (incuding the total time worked on that task) to use it for billing purposes. The export should contain at least the Task name and the total time, and maybe also date of first and last timing (so you could get worked on from ... until ... ). There could be more Options like to set a start/end date for exports, for example if someone crates monthly exports (bills) and also the granularity of the task level.

I would still like to see this feature. The purpose of exporting tasks (with aggregated timings) would be that I have a line for each task with the time I worked on. That way I could easily use it for billing purposes. The task description would be the description of the position in the bill and the time (multiplied with my rate) would be the price. Using the editing functions from sublimetext editor it would be really easy and fast to create bills.

BTW: I use a simple latex template to create bills, no billing apps involved.

    Hi Lars,

    Thanks for the suggestion!
I have put this feature on the todo list for the next major update.
Would you need this export in CSV format?

Hi Niko, thanks for your great and fast support. Yes, csv would be fine, the same way as the timings. It might be an extension of the timings export, like "export aggregated timings (for selected tasks)". That way you may do not have to code to much to get this done.

    Hey Lars,

I have implemented this feature in version 1.5.9 which is available on the App Store since today. Please let me know if it is sufficient for your needs, after you tried it...

Thank you Niko, that's exactly what I had in mind. Now it's very easy to export the tasks and create the invoice.

BTW: Is there a reason to have the description limited to 66 characters? I think for normal task tracking it would be enough. Sometimes it's a bit short for meaningful descriptions for invoice purposes.

Anyway Timelime now fits perfectly in my workflow .

Great, I’m glad it’s helpful to you.

The task description should not be limited. Where do you see the limitation?

I was a bit unclear, mean the task name (not the notes). It's a bit strange, the length depend on the characters used (I think it's not about encoding, but the actual space used by the font? Maybe the input field is limited with pixel length?). but its between 60 and 116 characters.

    I tested with:
    "012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345"

    "........................................................................................................................................" ..."
    "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"
    "iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"
     without the quotation marks.

    Hi!

Yes, the task name length is limited by to a certain width when displayed on the screen. The width used to be set by the maximum allowed width of the menu bar panel and the width of the task list in the main window of the app.
I just checked… and those widths don’t match the max task name width anymore. I’ll have to fix it, thanks for pointing me to this.

I saw you wrote a very nice review about the app on the App Store. Thank you so much!! It really helps a lot!
You wrote that you are unable to run multiple timers at the same time. Please go to preferences and check “Allow simultaneous timers”, then you’ll can run as many timers simultaneously as you want:)
