No problem... I added you again to the TestFlight Testing and you should have gotten a new notification. Did it work?

I think it would have, except I didn’t delete the unregistered Test Flight from my phone first.
    Please try one more time.

    Thanks,

Niko,         Is there some place to give you feedback or do we just mail you? I'm not sure if there is a bug tracker that you're using. It would be helpful to know what others have raised so that we don't raise the same points?

    Hey Niko,
Here is what I think from my usage in the past couple of days. Hope I do not overwhelm you with suggestions.

    1. I am not sure if someone has pointed this out to you, but the name in the mobile app keeps getting reset to Mobile User. Even if I save it in settings and go back, it always shows up as Mobile User. It should be okay for now, but I think it may prove to be a nuisance later on.

    2. I do not know if you have a Notifications Widget planned, but I think that would help everyone immensely. Being able to start and stop timers from your pull down list is like a gift from heaven, rather than having to go into the app every time (it is only human to want more and to be lazier :) )

    3. From a usability perspective, I am not quite sure how useful the Timers tab is. I would for one be much happier if the main Tasks tab mirrored much of the design of the desktop app. To be more specific, it is that much easier on the desktop app since tasks have drop downs and all the task timers under each of them is indented to a certain level. The problem with the Timers tab is that it just shows up all the timers (which it is intended to do), but it looks cluttered. I find it much easier to start timers on the desktop app because of the arrangement. Currently, why this does not work for me in the app is because every time I go to a task, it switches me to a new screen with the timers under that task. Would it not be possible to indent timers under tasks? If you could do that, it would remove the need for the Timers tab itself. (I hope I did not confuse you about this point).

    4. For now, most of the functionality seems to be spot on and working fine, including sync. I have been testing it out and have it running as we speak, so let me get back to you on that.

    5. Just a minor UI suggestion (if you do not get around to changing anything about #3). Instead of having a new page appearing from right to left, I have seen quite a few UIs that make it super slick with the new page appearing as the old one splits and disappears to the top and bottom from the point of touch. The split is not exactly half and half, but depends on where the contact with the screen happens. If it happens more towards the top, then you have a 24-75ish split or something of that sort. The current transition gives you the feeling that you are transitioning to a new page and makes it feel a bit old-fashioned (which is a little out of sync with the rest of the UI which is pretty nice).

    Regards,
    Abhishek.

Hey Niko,               Another UI observation from my mobile usage. I normally tend to switch around a lot in the screens and if I've to view my timings in the Calendar view, then it involves going back and forth a lot. I think it might be better if you had the Calendar view on the Tasks pane instead of the Timers pane. I believe it would be much cleaner to associate tasks in that screen as opposed to one displaying all the timers.

    Hey Abhishek,

Sorry for the late reply... have been busy getting ready to submit the app to the App Store, which I have done now.
No worries, I am always glad to get ideas from users on how to improve the app. Thank you very much for taking your time to write about your experiences!

    Regarding your suggestions:

    1. That’s great that you found this bug, I’ve totally missed it. Thanks!

    2. I definitely have a widget planned for the app. Just had to stop adding new features for version 1.0 at some point, to be able to release it to everyone.

    3. Regarding the Tasks and Timer view: The idea is that people will use the tasks view to create new tasks and organize them. Most of the time however users start and stop the timer for tasks that have been recently created or run. For this purpose the table of recently “used” tasks is handy to quickly start a timer. Tasks can be filtered in this view also.

    >> Would it not be possible to indent timers under tasks? If you could do that, it would remove the need for the Timers tab itself. (I hope I did not confuse you about this point).

You kinda confused me there;-) I think here tasks and timers are equivalent. Like on the Mac app, tasks can have subtasks and only “leaf tasks” can contain their own timings.
I did think a lot about whether I should have one Tasks View with indented subtasks like on the Mac app or have the hierarchy spread over separate views like it is now. I decided to go with the latter to keep the task view clearer. But this decision is not set in stone. I’ll have see what other users have to say about this. I have noted your suggestion and will think about it more.

    Thanks again,
    Niko

I notice that your last post says that you posted this on the iPhone app store on Dec. 15. I did a search and I only found the one that was by Techies India. What did you call it?

    Hi Dale,

The app is still in Apple review queue at the moment and should be available any day now. It will be called "Timelime Time Tracking".

    Thank you for your patience,
    Niko
