Unwanted reordering of tasks

Hi,

I found that the tasks get reordered "sometimes". I was not able to reproduce the issue manually. I ordered my tasks manually and after closing and reopening Timelime App the order still remains. I am not sure when this happens, but it happens from time to time. Maybe after App update?

In the first level of the task hierarchy I have the client name. This level I order the way that the important clients (the ones I work most time for) come first and then come those for whom I only work from time to time. I would like Timelime to respect this order and do not reorder them.

I was not able to figure out which schema the automatic order is following, it's not the order they where added, as a client (task) I have added 2 years ago and didn't track any sub-task for a while appears between more recently added clients, with more recent trackings.

    I have this problem too!

Similar to the post above, reordering happens in hierarchical tasks, with top-level reordering being apparent. (I'm unsure if it happens within subtasks or not because the order of sub-tasks does not matter to me.)

I usually use Timelime on two Macs, but this problem also occurs even if I use a single Mac for several days.

I also notice this problem when I first log a task at the start of the day. (It doesn't occur, e.g., in midday or after lunch.)

Hi, and thank you so much for letting me know, guys!

I’m also unable to reproduce the issue, but I have now finally made some changes in the code that should prevent this from happening.

I'll release an update to the apps in the coming days. Probably right after macOS 13.1 and iOS 16.2 are publicly available.

I migrated my mac recently and found items reordered. I didn't pay to much attention, timelime said something about different versions of local task and remote task from iCloud backup. Otherwise I didn't notice reordering, but just in case this helps to understand why it might happened. Best regards.

    Thanks for the update, Lars!
When you reconnect top a backup, Timelime checks if there are differences between each synced task and timing in the cloud and on your Mac/iPhone. If yes, it lets you decide which version you want to keep. One of those differences it checks is the parent task of a task. So this might be the cause of the reordering.
