Roundings: Is this the expected behavior?

I activated rounding to nearest 15 minutes for my timings. Today I noticed an odd behavior of which I'm not sure, if it is correct:

We have the following situation: There are three timings, together with the rounded durations Timelime gives me:
8:00-9:21 = 1h22m, rounded: 1h15m
9:21-11:39 = 2h17m, rounded: 2h15m
11:39-12:00 = 0h21m, rounded: 0h15m

This makes a total of 3h45m. If you look when the first timing started and the last one ended and that there're no pauses in between, you'll notice that the sum should be 4h instead of 3:45h (from 8:00 to 12:00).

Switching to combined mode or toggling 'round after combining timings' don't make a difference.

Maybe you could tell me if I'm thinking wrongly and this is actually the expected behavior or if this is a bug.

Many thanks in advance for clarification! Please let me know if you need any further information.

    Hi Sebastian,
Can you please try to attach the screenshot again? It doesn't show here for some reason. Then I'll look into it.

    Hi again,

The information in the status bar "3 timings - 3h 45m 0s" displays the added-up time of the three timings listed above. The timings are individually rounded, so 3h 45m is correct.

Instead of rounding timings individually, you can round by task/day as well if you switch to combined mode and select "round after combining timings”.
Then, in your example, it should calculate like this:
    task a: 8:00-11:39 = 3h39m, rounded 3h30m
    task b: 11:39-12:00 = 0h21m, rounded 0h15m
-> still 3h45m in the status bar display

I hope this makes sense to you,

Hi and thanks for the clarification.

To be sure, if I understood correctly: If I’d enable "round after combining timings” would the time shown be 4h or 3h45? Please note, that all three tasks are in different projects.

    No problem!
The "round after combining timings” would not make a difference here.
It would make a difference for example if you had three timings of the same task on the same day, and duration of each timing is 20 minutes (0h 45m vs 1h 0m).
