The information in the status bar "3 timings - 3h 45m 0s" displays the added-up time of the three timings listed above. The timings are individually rounded, so 3h 45m is correct.
Instead of rounding timings individually, you can round by task/day as well if you switch to combined mode and select "round after combining timings”.
Then, in your example, it should calculate like this:
task a: 8:00-11:39 = 3h39m, rounded 3h30m
task b: 11:39-12:00 = 0h21m, rounded 0h15m
-> still 3h45m in the status bar display

The "round after combining timings” would not make a difference here.
It would make a difference for example if you had three timings of the same task on the same day, and duration of each timing is 20 minutes (0h 45m vs 1h 0m).
