Menu bar info and clock icon no longer showing in menu bar.
Hi,
In the latest mac os update (OS Catalina), the Timelime info no longer displays in the menu bar when you set it to "display in the menu bar". Can we expect a fix anytime soon? Thanks.
And a big thank you for this app, It has been a great asset for me when I do freelance work!

Hi Gerard,
I’m glad Timelime is helpful to you!
Can you please try quitting Timelime (right click on empty space -> Quit Timelime) and relaunching it. This problem appeared on one of my Macs too, but never happened again after relaunching the app once.
Niko

Hi,
So that did the trick, but what i had to do was first uncheck all the boxes in the "Menu Bar" preferences, then quit Timelime and finally relaunch it. And now all is back to normal. Thanks again!

Hi! It happens to me too. Every time the theme in Catalina changes from night to day and vice versa, the icon of Timelime goes invisible and I have to reload the app.

Hi Olga,
This shouldn’t be happening.
When you go to System Preferences > General and switch the system appearance there between “Light” and “Dark”, does the Timelime status item go invisible also?
And, can you please post a screenshot of your Timelime status item here (when it is visible), so I can see your configuration.
Thank you,
Niko

Hi, Niko! Yes, when I change the system appearance in preferences Timelime status also goes invisible until I reload Timelime.
Here it the screenshot:

Hi Olga!
Strange… I’m unable to reproduce it on my Macs.
Are you running the latest version of Timelime (1.6.4)?
What kind of Mac are you using? Is there anything special about your setup (dual screens, …)?
Thank you for your help,
Niko

Well, I use MacBook Air with MacOS Catalina 10.15 with external display (Mac is in clam shell mode). Yes, I use 1.6.4 version of Timelime.
Thank you!
Olga

Sorry Olga, I just noticed there might be a misunderstanding on my side. What exactly goes invisible in your case? The Timelime icon (in the app switcher) or the Timelime status item (the one that sits in the Mac menu bar, the one you took the screenshot of)?
Thanks!

The one that I took the screenshot of. Just a thought, it could be connected to the Flux application that I have installed (to control the blue light of the screen automatically). It switches black and white theme every night, as far as I understood. But I'm not sure thats the cause.
Thank you, Niko!

Hmm, I am also using the Flux app. And I have tried with an external screen. Still not able to reproduce the issue:(
Does the same problem appear when you unplug the external screen and use the internal display?
Thanks!

I suddenly have this problem on my Mac. It was fine before. I tried the suggestion of unchecking everything and restart, it doesn't work. Please fix this issue. Tq!

Hi Aisyah,
The cause of what you are experiencing is most likely different from before, as the bug got fixed already.
Can you please describe your issue further. When does it appear, what do you see?
Also please tell me your version of Timelime and macOS.
Thanks,
Niko

Hi Niko,
Currently I’m using Timelime version 1.6.8 on macOS Catalina 10.15.4.
The problem occur after I shutdown my MacBook. It was fine before. I tried the suggestion and restart my MacBook but it doesn’t fix the problem.
However, I manage to get it working now after I changed my Mac appearance to dark from auto in system preferences. Even after I change it back to auto it works fine.
Thanks and regards,
Aisyah

Hi Niko,
I encountered the same problem as Aisyah on 4/7/20. The icon in the menu bar wouldn't display unless I changed the display to dark mode and then switched it back to auto. Just wanted to let you know. I am currently running macOS Catalina 10.15.5 and Timeline 1.6.9
Thanks!
Haylee

Thank you for posting about it though! You saved me. I was going crazy this morning trying to figure it out. If I don't see the icon, I forget to change my timings.

Hi Aisyah and Haylee,
sorry I'll look into this problem again. Trying to reproduce it now... Does it only occur on your Macs when System Preferences > General > Appearance is set to "Auto"?
Thanks,
Niko

No problem! It happened to my system when I had to restart my computer. The icon in the menu bar worked fine on Friday, but when I restarted my computer this morning (which is on "Auto" by default) is when the icon didn't display on the menu bar. Once I switched System Preferences > General > Appearance to "Dark", the icon reappeared. I could then switch between all the appearance settings ("Light", "Dark", or "Auto") and the icon stayed put.
I hope that makes sense. Thank you for a wonderful app. I truly love it.
Haylee

For me, I notice it happen when my MacBook auto restart while Appearance in “Auto” mode at night (so it’s on “Dark” mode). When I restart my MacBook in the morning (so its on “Light” mode), the icon in the menu would be invisible. If I click on where its suppose to be, I can use it but I can’t see the status etc.
It happen to me a few times since I first posted the issue, so I would just switch around the appearance settings to fix it.
